Oslo dream-pop, a shifting cast
Maribel
Maribel is an Oslo-based constellation of musicians gathered around Pål Espen Kapelrud, and that is how he has described it himself: a shifting cast rather than a fixed band. The cast has included singer Rebekka Markstein and, on later records, guests such as Carmen Villain. One critic likened their dream-pop and shoegaze to My Bloody Valentine soundtracking Twin Peaks. It ran from the 2009 debut Aesthetics through 2012's Reveries, which was followed by a companion set of remixes by outside artists including Greece's Keep Shelly in Athens, and on to 2015's sample-built Dirty/Clean. They played Norway's by:Larm showcase in 2012, and little has surfaced since.
